A climber has been airlifted to hospital after falling from an ice route on the UK's highest mountain.

Police said the man fell while climbing in Point Five Gully on the north face of Ben Nevis.

Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team and RAF personnel were called to the area on Monday afternoon and found the man.

He was taken by helicopter to Belford Hospital in Fort William, where his injuries were "not believed to be life threatening".

A Northern Constabulary spokesman said they were not releasing details about the man.

Point Five Gully is one of the most famous ice routes for climbers in the UK.
